UNIFIED COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP AUDITION
- Student juniors and seniors interested in auditioning/interviewing for college scholarships will be scheduled for an audition slot to be seen by participating colleges and universities. After the initial audition, colleges and universities will post personal meetings with candidates of their choice. Click the button below for instructions and application form.
NORTHEAST FESTIVAL LEADERSHIP GRANT
- A grant will be offered to one student, a current sophomore or junior, to cover the cost of registration, room and board and the Thespian Leadership Program at the International Thespian Festival in Nebraska, June 2019. Click the button below for instructions and application form.
MAINE THESPIAN SCHOLARSHIP
- Maine HS seniors who are members of the International Thespian Society may apply and interview for a $1,000 college scholarship from the Maine Educational Theatre Association. Click the button below for instructions and application form.
Students may perform or present their work before a panel of judges for critique and recognition. Students earning the highest rating (Superior) earn an invitation to present their work at the International Thespian Festival in Nebraska in June. Presentations may be made in the following categories:
Register Individual Events on the Participant Registration Form with a fee of $10.00 per student per event.
Students may participate in up to two Individual Events. Please review the IE Guidelines (button below) for specific rules.
All presenting students should wear black and be prepared to present a "slate" announcing their name, school and piece to be presented. Please review the IE Guidelines and Rubrics (buttons below), which can be found at the links below. Please be sure performers are presenting work with permission.
- ACTING
- Monologue (2 contrasting monologues, 3 min, time limit total)
- Duet Acting- 2 person scene, 5 min. limit
- Group Acting- Scene with more than 2, time limit 5 min.
- MUSICAL THEATRE, 5 min time limit
- Solo Musical Theatre- Solo Broadway song
- Duet Musical Theatre- 2 person Broadway song
- Group Musical Theatre- Broadway song with more than 2
- DESIGN, 8 min. presentation, 4 min. QA
- Set Design- present portfolio
- Costume Design- present portfolio
- Lighting Design- present portfolio
- TECHNICAL THEATRE, 8 min. presentation, 4 min. QA
- Stage Management- present SM prompt book, discuss concept and process
- Costume Construction- present portfolio, photos, actual costume sample
- Short Film- 5 min time limit plus 1 min for credits

PLAYWORKS offers the opportunity for any school to bring a low-tech performance of student writing to share with the Festival.
FREESTYLE THEATRE offers the same opportunity for plays not written by students.
Performances will be held in classroom/workshop setting with minimal scenery and classroom lighting and are limited to 20 minutes. Please complete the application below.

STATE THESPIAN OFFICERS (STO) will support the Maine Board, assist the RTO for the Northeast Festival and serve as Masters of Ceremonies for the Maine Conference.
Students who are current sophomores or juniors should complete the common application and register for the Leadership Workshop at the Festival. Selections for next year's RTO and STO Boards will be announced at the Closing Ceremony of the Northeast Festival.
